Each smartphone has a default video player preinstalled and it's there for a good purpose: to run most videos and to provide the basic features you would expect. However, it cannot play all video formats and it doesn't provide many interesting features other players do.
MX Player is a mobile video player which can be downloaded and used free of charge, but it does show some non-intrusive ads. It has a small download size of around 30 MB. Its user interface is clean and simple considering the interface is not exactly the most important feature of a video player where you mostly watch full-screen videos.
Buttons are strategically placed and ads only appear when you pause or stop watching the video. Navigating through the app is simple enough and everything is maximally a few clicks away. One of its best strong sides is the fact that it supports almost every popular codec and video format: AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, WEBM, WMV, XVID, and more.
Watching movies with subtitles is very easy and convenient with MX Player as it provides great subtitle support. Subtitles can be loaded from your device or searched for online. You can easily style them and use gestures to move them around the screen or to manage synchronization with the video. That being said, we must say that it's missing a playlist feature so you are not able to run several videos one after another in particular order.
There are more useful features such as the use of hardware acceleration and multi-core decoding which really shows its power when using more powerful devices. MX Player is definitely an awesome choice for a video player and we recommend it if you ever feel the need to download one.
